We recently finished a kitchen remodeling project where our client decided to have the cabinets finished in both stain and paint. Typically I advise our clients to pick one or the other but I was very pleased on the final result of this project. By alternating the stain and paint finishes of the cabinets, it allows us to draw attention to the cabinet details.
This kitchen consisted of a stained range cabinet with over-sized drawers along with stained columns of china and stemware storage. Because of the painted upper cabinets, the stained china storage columns really popped from the wall.
A built-in desk was also fabricated and stained with a matching cork-board bulletin board. On the opposite wall a wet bar with built-in wine cooler overlooks the living room.
Consider the idea of blending stained and painted surfaces in your kitchen remodeling project for a nice contrast between different areas of your kitchen.
